Hello, welcome to Mishka's Crafty Creations Blog, where I hope to be able to inspire you with my creations so you can come along with me on my journey!

I am super excited to be part of Scrap Of Your Life Design Team, a very first for me, so I am a little nervous, however I am looking forward to the next 6 months and the exciting projects and inspiration I can bring to you.

A little about me.....I have been crafting since I was around 18 years old (a long time ago) or thereabouts, and not always with paper crafts. I actually started cross-stitching, which then lead me into making teddy bears with embroidery on them. From here I moved into paper crafts, being introduced to Crafty Kids at the time and absolutely loved what they offered. I then met some wonderful, creative people along the way attending various craft workshops and enjoyed being with like minded people and creating to our hearts content. I have developed some wonderful friendships along the way, and created many various projects from cards, off the page designs and journals, and to date, a couple of scrap book pages. 

My craft room began in a very small spare bedroom in my very first home, and soon grew into a large space in a rumpus room when I got married and moved house. I've moved my space a few times, having bought another home with hubby, I grabbed a spare bedroom and since moved out again due to renovating our home, and now I am settled in my husband's shed! I have so much stuff, I don't want to move it back into the spare bedroom, so my husband is building me a "she shed, so watch this space!

Polystyrene circle base and Lemon Craft Silence Papers

When I was sent this polystyrene circle base, at first I thought, "what does Julie expect me to do with this", so a little treat of white chocolate put me in a head space to create a picture perfect scenery using the Lemon Craft Silence paper collection, which is just so pretty. This project required some fussy cutting, and you know I am not a huge fan of fussy cutting, although my patience with this didn't wear thin, and I actually enjoyed it, maybe it was the combination of pretty papers, coffee and yes, as mentioned the white chocolate :-)  Firstly I started by tracing the circle base on one of the papers that already had a slight pink tinge through it, and then added more pink using the Tim Holtz spun sugar distress ink, this really made the paper pop. Once that was done, I added a strip of paper on the bottom of the base to add some colour. I then added some Webster fabric ribbon found in my stash that was just perfect for this project. Mini Christmas Wreath

Scrap of Your Life Christmas in July Evnt - Project Two This project is to make a Mini Christmas Wreath using a Styrofoam circle and wrapping it with burlap, and then decorating. I will pre-warn you, the preparation of this project is a little long, as there is a combination of stamping, embossing, colouring and die cutting, so ensure you make some YOU time to sit and create.  There are many different bases you could choose from if you didn't want to use Styrofoam such as wire, ready made moss or wood wreaths, francheville collection wreaths etc, it's really up to you what you want to use, and what design you are looking for at the end. Here is a photo of the goodies I used for this project. (Distress Inks were also used) To start the project, I rolled out the burlap long enough to cover the circle and cut the burlap down in half. Cards using Mystic Prophecy - 3 Quarter papers

What is not to love about these gorgeous papers from 3 Quarter - Mystic Prophecy? I was sent this gorgeous card kit to create with and I loved creating these cards using different template designs and techniques. You can find this pack at Scrap of Your Life -  Mystic Prophecy Card Collection Pack I decided to make three cards using three different templates - cascade card, double pocket and step card. These were quite easy to make once I got the dimensions right!  I will say I actually had a Sizzix Thinlets step card which I forgot I had, so I gave it a go and put it through my bigshot, and once I got the dimensions from this, I decided to create a paper template to have whenever I don’t have my bigshot with me.
